How much does self-storage in London cost?
The median price for a 25 square foot self-storage unit in London was £34.62/week in our latest analysis of pricing in May 2024, which is 38% more expensive than the national median. You will also generally pay more for a larger unit in London than elsewhere in the UK. In our sample, the median 50 square foot self-storage unit in London was £56.31 per week, or 41% more expensive than the UK median price for self-storage. The median 100 square foot self-storage unit in London cost £88.85 per week (39% higher than the UK median).
There is a wide range of prices for self-storage in London. Prices vary by location and by availability of specific units, among other reasons. In May 2024 only 8% of sites offered 25 square foot units for less than £20 per week, and we found no 25 square foot units in London for less than £10 per week. At the higher end, 5% of self-storage sites in London advertised prices above £60 per week for a self-storage unit.
How much could I save with a larger storage unit?
Large self-storage units usually have a lower price per square foot than smaller self-storage units. Looking at median prices in May 2024 from our sample, we found that 50 square foot units in London were 19% cheaper than 25 square foot units on a price per square foot basis. 100 square foot units were cheaper still, with the median price per square foot 36% lower than 25 square foot unit prices. In other words, the more you store, the more you save.
How much does Outdoor Storage cost vs. Indoor Self-storage in London?
Outdoor Storage is generally less expensive on a price per square foot basis than Indoor Storage. However, Outdoor Storage units are generally larger than Indoor Storage units. Outdoors Storage units are typically 160 square feet (or 320 square feet). Outdoor Storage units are also typically available in 40 square foot and 80 square foot options. The median 160 square foot London Outdoor Self-Storage Unit cost £105.65 in May 2024, which equates to 66p per square foot per week, or 26% less than the median 100 square foot indoor self-storage unit in London. In other words, you will pay 19% more for 60% more space if you opt for an outdoor self-storage unit in London vs. an indoor self-storage unit.
